Country Folk with elements of Bluegrass, Old Time and Americana.

This album is a collections of original songs where each tells a story. It contains all of Steve's influences of Folk, Bluegrass, Old Time and Contemporary Folk music. The instrumentation is all acoustic based. The songs range from upbeat tongue-in-cheek to mellow ballads. While the songs may vary in style, there are all held together by Steve's voice, guitar playing and story telling.

REAL REUBENS is...

Steve Jack on acoustic & electric guitars and lead vocals is the principal songwriter. Steve has been a regular on the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC music scene for over 20 years. He has performed across the state of NC as a solo artist and with bands Ex Libris, Man About Town and Soul Kitchen. Steve Jack released a self-titled CD in 1995. Steve has written many of the original songs the group performs.

David Burke "DB" on Lap Steel guitars and Dobro began playing Bluegrass with his dad's band nearly 20 years ago. DB's roots are in Bluegrass and Old Time music, but his versatile playing style has allows him to branch out and thrive in many different musical directions including Blues, Alt Country and Rock. DB has performed with such notables as The Parsons, Jon Shain, Keb Mo, Jack Lawrence, Josh Graves and Steve Howell of the Backsliders.

David Wilkins on Drums and back vocals has been playing in bands for over 30 years. His prolific career includes stints with hard Rock band Ark, variety band Annie Freeze, and soul & funk unit Soul Kitchen. A Durham, NC native, David has built a reputation as one of the areas finest drummers.

Don Chambers on Bass & back vocals has been performing for some 20 years in the Chapel Hill area playing with bands Mary On The Dash, WoFat, Bobby Hinton, The Bare Bottom Band and the M-80's. Don is proficient in Rock, R&B, Funk and Jazz. Don plays a 1973 Fender Jazz Bass.

Jay Shirley is a nomadic member of the group and joins RR for some gigs. Jay is a very fine keyboard player who plays through a Leslie cabinet. Jay has Leslie cabs like other people have furniture. He has performed live and in the studio with Funk artist Corey Parker (son of Maceo-Uhh good God! Maceo was in the Godfather's (God rest his Soul) band. Jay has also performe
